OOCL LONG BEACH and OOCL SHENZHEN

Malaysia depict on this M.S. issued in 2004 two recent built gearless container vessels belonging to Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) which are visiting Port Klang, Malaysia regular in the service from Hong Kong-Yantian-Kaohsiung-Singapore-Northport, Port Klang via the Pacific to the USA port of Long Beach.
Northport in Port Klang is the first loading port and last discharging port in this service.

Both vessels belong to the SX Class of which 10 units are ordered.

Built under yard No 1419 by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (Geoje Shipyard), South Korea for the
Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Hong Kong, China.
26 August 2002 the first steel was cut to build the vessel.
27 December 2002 keel laid down. (most probably the first section was placed)
08 March 2003 launched under the name OOCL LONG BEACH.
Tonnage 89.097 gross, 55.204 net, 99.508.3dwt., dim. 322.97 x 42.80 x 24.60m., length bpp 308.0m, draught 14.52m.
Powered by 12-cyl oil engine type 12k98MC-C, manufactured by HSD Engine Co. Ltd., 68.470 kW., service speed 25 knots, one propeller.
Bunker capacity 10.548m³ heavy fuel, 508m³ diesel oil, 687.3m³ lube oil. Fresh water 720.5m³, water ballast 26.412m³.
Cargo capacity 8063 TEU’s.
30 June 2003 delivered to owners.

On her maiden voyage she arrived for the first time in Long Beach on 25 July 2003.
OOCL International chairman Tung’s niece, Audrey T. Slighton after arrival at Long Beach, christened her.

Register port Hong Kong.

Built under yard No. 1418 by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., South Korea for OCL.
10 June 2002 first steel was cut.
22 October 2002 keel laid down.
26 December 2002 launched under the name OOCL SHENZHEN.
Details are the same as OOCL LONG BEACH.
29 April 2003 delivered to owners.

OOCL LONG BEACH.
03 October 2013 sold to Newcontainer No77 MI Shipping, not renamed.
12 May 2014 Sold to Outbound Ltd., Stamford, USA, not renamed still under Hong Kong flag and registry.
2016 Same name and owners in service.

OOCL SHENZHEN.
03 October 2013 Sold to Newcontainer No 76 MI Shipping, not renamed.
05 May 2014 sold to Enroute Ltd., Stamford, USA, not renamed.
2016 In service, same name and owners, stil under Hong Kong flag and registry.
