TAMBO

Built as a cargo vessel under yard no 161 by Ardrossan Shipbuilding Co. at Ardrossan, U.K., for Huddart, Parker & Co., Melbourne, Australia.
15 March 1892 launched under the name TAMBO.
Tonnage 732 gross, 450 net, dim. 190.0 x 30.1 x 14.6ft.
Powered by a triple expansion steam engine, 82 nhp., manufactured by Rankin & Blackmore at Greenock. Speed 10 knots.
April 1892 completed.

1898 Her register was transferred to Hobart.
Nov. 1902 Sold to Burns, Philip & Co. Ltd., not renamed, registered at Sydney.
She was acquired for the Australia to New Hebrides and Island trades of the company. Her first voyage for Burns, Philip was under command of Capt. Bayldon when she on 01 December 1902 sailed from Sydney with some passengers and cargo for Lord Howe Island-Norfolk Island-New Caledonia and New Hebrides.

On a voyage from Sydney to the Marshall Islands, loaded with general cargo, she ran aground on a reef on 10 September 1919 at Apamama, Gilbert Islands. She became a total loss.
