BAFFIN CSS

Built as a hydrographic research vessel under yard No 264 by Canadian Vickers at Montreal for the Government of Canada (Min. of the Environment).
18 June 1956 launched as CSS BAFFIN.
Tonnage 3.460 gross, 1.319 net, 950dwt., dim. 285.6 x 49.6 x17.7ft.
Powered by four 12-cyl. Fairbanks-Morse diesels geared through hydro-couplings to the two shafts, 8.160 shp., twin screws, speed 15.5 knots.
Ice strengthened.
January 1957 delivered.

She was designed for hydrographic survey duties in the Arctic waters.
1991 Carried only the number 1991.
1992 Transferred to Panama flag and registry, renamed again in BAFFIN (most probably she sailed under that flag to the breakers at Alang.)
20 August 1992 arrived by Gupta Steel at Alang, and demolition work commenced 30 September 1992.
