Post by shipstamps » Tue Jan 20, 2009 6:29 pm

Both the Varna and G. Dimitrov were built in 1957 at the Varna shipyard of G. Dimitrov, hence the names of these two motorships for the Navigation Maritime Bulgare. The Varna has dimensions of 303ft. x 45.3ft. x 18.6ft. for a gross tonnage of 1,935, the G. Dimitrov having dimensions 205.6ft. x 30.8ft. x 9.10ft., for a gross tonnage of 898. She has two 4-stroke SA, 8-cylinder oil engines, geared to a single shaft; the G. Dimitrov has a similar single installation. Engines for both vessels were supplied by the Karl Liebnecht Works, Magdeburg.
