Soldek
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the People's Republic, 1944-54, Poland issued 10 stamps, the 1.55zt. value of which shows the Polish vessel Soldek alongside a wharf. A single-decked ship of 2,005 gross tons on dimensions 276.4ft. x 40.5ft. x 17.6ft., the Soldek was built by Zjednoczenie Stoczni Polskich at Gdansk to the order of the Polish Government and is managed by the Polish Steamship Company. She was engined by Huta Zgoda of Katowice, and made her maiden voyage in 1949.

Built in 1948-'49 by Stocznia Gdanska, #B30/1, for Polska Zegluga Morska, Szczecin.
Cole and ore freighter, Gt:2005, Nt:994, Dw:2610, Loa:87m. Lbp:82,60m. B:12,20m. draft:5,40m. 2 Howden-Johnson boilers, 1-4 cyl. Lenz steam engine:1300 shp. 9,9 kn.
IMO.5333373.
She was the first ship built in Poland after World War II and the first seagoing ship completed in Poland. She was the first of 29 ships classed as Project B30, built between 1949 and 1954 in Stocznia Gdańska (Gdańsk Shipyard).
30-12-'80 out of service, 28-04-'81 museum ship in Centralnie Muzeum Morski, Gdansk.
