KOSMONAUT VLADIMIR KOMAROV

Built under yard No 1311 as a cargo vessel by Khersonskiy Shipyard, Kherson for the Soviet Union Government.
20 October 1966 keel laid down.
Launched as the GENICHESK also given as GENICHENSK, she was one of the Poltava type.
Tonnage 10.500 grt, 12.820 dwt., dim. 155.73 x 23.32 x 8.5m. (draught).
One 6-cyl B&W Bryansk diesel engine, 9.000 shp., speed 17.5 knots.
19 September 1966 completed.

1967 Converted in Leningrad in a space research and tracking vessel.
Renamed in KOSMONAUT VLADIMIR KOMAROV, named after the first Soviet Union’s space fatality Vladimir Komarov.
Tonnage 13.935 gross, 5.304 net, 6.545 dwt.
She was fitted out with two large and I small radome type antennas.
Homeport Odessa.
After the disintegration of the Soviet Union was she transferred to the Ukraine flag, managed by Academy of Science.
1994 Sold to Baijnath Melaram at Alang, India, where she arrived on 03 November 1994.
19 November 1994 scrapping commenced.
