The vessel depict on this stamp is the cargo vessel VELOX built in 1952 on the yard of the Nylands Verksted at Oslo under yard no. 369 for A/S Finn Johnsen,s Rederi, Bergen, Norway. .
05 April 1952 launched under the name AUN.
Tonnage 1.901 gross, 981 net., 2.700 dwt., dim. 277.10 x 41.4 x 19.9ft. (draught).
One 2-cyl.compound steamengine and a low pressure turbine, manufactured by builder 1.200 ihp speed 11 ½ knots .

1963 Sold to A/S Liv., Bergen, Norway (manager Kristian Jebsen Assuranceforretning) renamed LEKNES.
1967 renamed by owners in VELOX (managed by Arne Ostensjo)
1970 Sold to Cia Mar. Weston SA., Panama, renamed WESTON.
1916 Sold to Portalisa Shipping Co. Ltd., Cyprus, renamed NICOLAOS G.
1977 Sold to Yakub Nseir, Syria, renamed SYRIA STAR.

1981 Again renamed in NICOLAOS G, and under. the flag of Cyprus, owner unknown ( it looks Mr Nseir could not pay for the ship anymore, and the old owner took it back)
The same year in November broken up by K.Vamvoukanis at Perama

The stamp was designed after a photo, taken on 11 January 1968, when the VELOX sailed under the Martrou bridge.
