St. Michael Likoni

The 2/50 stamp gives the name of the ship as St. Michael but her full name is St. Michael Likoni. A ferry, built in 1960 by the African Marine and General Engineering Company Ltd., she is owned by Kenya Bus Services (Mombasa) Ltd., and registered at Mombasa. She sails from the south of the island of Mombasa to the mainland. Gross tonnage is 104, net 88, deadweight 60, and she has provision for 300 passengers. Her length 110 ft., beam 34 ft. 7 ins., and draft 3 ft. 4 ins. Engines are two 6-cylinder Gardners, driving through fluid couplings and developing 290 b.h.p. to give a speed of 7 knots, She has bunkers for 3'/2 tons of diesel oil and is fitted with two directional propellers.

Kenya-Uganda-Tanganyika 1969 2s50 sg259, Scott?

Her real name was ST MICHAEL as given on the stamp.

2021 I can not find her more in service, most probably scrapped.
