VICTORY CLASS MISSILE PATROL CORVETTES

The 1$ stamp of the Singapore issues on the 25 Years of National Service is a missile corvette in service by the Singapore Navy. Not a name given, but in 1992 six missile corvettes were in commission by the Singaporean Navy, the VICTORY (P88), VALOUR (P89), VIGILANCE (P90), VALIANT (P91), VIGOUR (P92) and VENGEANCE (P93).
The VICTORY was built by the Lürsen Werft in Bremen, commissioned on 18 August 1990 the other 5 were built by the Singapore Shipbuilding and Marine, and commissioned between 18 August 1990 and 25 May 1991.

The class had a displacement of 595 ton full load, dim. 62.4 x 8.5 x 3.1m, length on waterline 58 meter.
Powered by 4 MTU 16V 538 TB93 diesels, 15.020 hp., four shafts, speed 35 knots.
Range 4.000 miles at 18 knots.
Complement 49 under which 8 officers.
Armament: 1- OTO Melara 76mm AA gun and 4 – CIS 50 12.7mm MG. Missiles: 8 – McDonnell Douglas Harpoon and 16 VSL Barak Sam. 6 – 324mm Whitehead torpedoes.

The class suffers from top weight problems due to huge mast housing EW gear.
