DRESDEN paddlesteamer 1926

Built as a paddle steamer in 1926 on the Werft Laubegast at Dresden, Germany under the name DRESDEN, for the Sächsische Dampfschiffarth Gesellschaft mbH & Co. (Weisse Flotte), Dresden.
Dim. 68.7 x 6.9 , over paddleboxen 12.89m. Draught 0.61m.
Powered by a compound diagonal WUMAG coal-briquette fired steam engine 275 hp, when built.
Passengers 610. Crew, one skipper, mate, sailors and an engineer.
Built with an aft deck salon and upper deck.
Twin rudders, as used by the River Rhine steamers.

29 June 1926 in service in the Dresden-Bad Schandau-Schmilka route on the River Elbe.
Building time, six months.

18 June 1946 complete gutted by fire by carelessness in the port of Loschwitz, and she escaped being requisitioned by the Russians due to this fire.
During 1947 repair commenced and on 07 July 1949 after adding a new foredeck saloon, again in service.
Used in the river passenger service, and for charters.
1967 Received a new wheelhouse and paddleboxen.
1984 Carried the then President of North Korea Kim II Sung, and he was so impressed with the performances of the DRESDEN, that he ordered a exact replica to be built for service in North Korea.
The replica entered service in 1986 under the name PYONGYANG NO 1, and she was the first of a fleet of steamers at Pyongyang, which plied between this town and a nearby amusement park.
Between 1979-80 received a major overhaul.
1989 Sailed to Hamburg and took part in the port celebrations of the town.
>From 1992 until the middle of May 1993 restored in her original state. She is now oil fired 300 hp.
Homeport still Dresden. Now mostly used for castle and Dixieland cruises.
