FEDERAL DANUBE

The design of this stamp is based on a photograph of the ship in an advertisement of the port of Montreal.

Built as a bulk carrier under yard No. 892 by the N.V. Cockerill Yards, Hoboken near Antwerp for the Belgian/Canadian owners N.V. Belcan, Antwerpen (Antwerp).
02 January 1980 first section placed.
06 June 1980 launched under the name FEDERAL DANUBE. Three sisters.
Tonnage 21.661 grt, 17.371 net, 35.630 dwt., dim. 222.49 x 23.25 x 14.36m., length bpp. 216.62m, draught 9.72m.
Capacity of hold 49.551m³.
One 6-cyl. B&W diesel engine, 11.600 bhp., one shaft, speed 15 knots.
One bow-thrusther.
Crew 34.
Homeport Antwerpen.
September 1980 delivered to owners, and managed by N.V. Ubern/Coblefret, Antwerpen.

She was special built for the service between Belgium and the Great Lakes in Canada.
To the Great Lakes with raw steel products from Belgium and Germany, and the return voyage to Europe mostly with grain.
After deliver chartered for a long time-charter by Federal Commerce & Navigation Ltd., Montreal.

1987 Registry changed to Cyprus flag, homeport Limassol, owned by Belcan (Ubern N.V.), Limassol.
1995 Sold to Lake Ontario, Marshall Islands, and renamed LAKE ONTARIO.
2003 Sold to Baffin Investment Hong Kong, China, and managed by Anglo-Eastern Ship Management Ltd., Hong Kong. Not renamed, and still under Marshall Island registry and flag.

2007 As given by http://www.equasis.org same owner and manager, IMO No. 7901148.

02-2009 sold to Canada Steamship Lines as OAKGLEN, Canadian flag, since 28-12-2012 laid-up.

2009 At the end of the year transferred to Marshall Islands flag, with homeport Majuro.
2010 Transferred by the company to Canadian flag and registry, homeport Montreal.

2020 Same name and owner.
