Built as a cruise vessel under yard No 5989 by Fincantieri Cant. Nav. ,Marghera at Venezia (Venice), Italy for Disney Cruise Liner, Liberia. Her bow section was built at Ancona, and after completing towed to Venice.
17 April 1997 launched under the name DISNEY MAGIC, one sister the DISNEY WONDER.
Tonnage 83.308 gross, 8.452 dwt., dim. 294 x 32.25 x 7.90m. (draught)
Powered by five Sulzer-Grandi Motori-Fincantieri 16 ZAV 40S diesels, 57.663 kW., installed in two engine rooms separated by a third compartment housing the two General Electric 19.000 kW (each) propulsion engines, twin shafts, speed maximum 24 knots, cruising speed 21.5 knots.
Accommodation in 875 staterooms with double occupation 1750 passengers, maximum 2400. Crew 950.
Two funnel ship, first is a dummy.
21 June 1998 delivered to owners, under Bahamas flag and homeport Nassau.
Delivery was delayed about five months due to problems by the builder. Building cost around $380 million Dollar.

She is managed by Disney Cruise Line at Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
She was the first of two sisterships; the other is the DISNEY WONDERS.
She were designed as a family cruise ships, with the precise goal of accommodating parents and children.
30 July 1998 after arrival at Port Canaveral christened, and the same day left for her maiden voyage for a 7 day cruise to the Caribbean.
15 March 2002 she had a fire in the rear smokestack while about 200 miles NW of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The fire was discovered at 05.00 a.m. and took about one hour to extinguish by the crew. There were no injuries among the passengers and crew.
June 2005 she passed the Panama Canal for Disneysland’s 50th Anniversary, when the company offered 12 cruises from Los Angles to the Mexican Riviera.
Autumn 2005 returned to Port Canaveral to resume her 7 day’s voyages from this port.
01 October 2005 got a refurbishment and dry-docking by the Norshipoco shipyard in Norfolk, USA. gives for 2007, same owner and manager. IMO No. 9126807.

The Madagasikara Republic (Madagascar) issued in 2018 a miniature sheet with cruise vessels, the left top stamp shows us a Disney cruise vessel at anchor, comparing this with photos it must be the DISNEY MAGIC, she has a sister the DISNEY WONDER but I can’t find a photo of her at anchor. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6737&p=6733&hilit=disney+magic#p6733

In May 2007, DISNEY MAGIC started her inaugural Mediterranean cruises out of Barcelona, Spain. At the end of the summer, she returned to her home port of Port Canaveral. DISNEY MAGIC returned to Barcelona in 2010 for another summer of Mediterranean cruises, as well as several northern European cruises before again returning to Port Canaveral in September.
In 2010, DISNEY MAGIC sailed Disney Cruise Lines' inaugural Northern Europe itineraries, homeported in the port of Dover, 77 miles from London, England. She sailed to Norway, the British Isles, and the Baltic Sea during her three-month season.
In May 2012, DISNEY MAGIC was relocated to New York City, where she sailed 8-night cruises to the Bahamas, New England, and Canada. In September, she was relocated to Galveston, Texas, for the remainder of the year and offered 4 Night Caribbean Cruises, 6, 7, and 8 Night Western Caribbean Cruises, and 8 Night Bahamian Cruises. In June 2013, DISNEY MAGIC was re-positioned to Barcelona, Spain for the summer.
DISNEY MAGIC was put in for an overhaul at Navantia shipyard, Cadiz, Spain. In October 2013, Disney Cruise Line completed renovations to DISNEY MAGIC including updates to the ship's cabins, lounges, restaurants and spa and introduced new features including; "Marvel's Avengers Academy", a play area based on Marvel's Avengers characters, the AquaDunk, and the AquaLab, consisting of a pool and waterslide
