The hovercraft or better the air-cushion landing craft depict on this stamp is one of six built by the British Hovercraft Corporation, Cowes, U.K., for Iranian Navy, all were commissioned between 1970-1975.
Two types were built, Mk 4 class delivered between 1970 – 1971, two crafts.
Mk 5A class delivered between 1974 – 1975, four crafts.
Displacement 50-55ton., dim. 23.9 x 13.8 x 10.36m (height).
Powered by 1 Rolls Royce Proteus 15M549 gasturbines, 4.250 shp., and one 6.4m diameter prop.
Fuel 9 tons
Range 400 mile by 56 knots.
Armament 2 – 12.7 mmMG.

Four have a payload of 14 tons and are logistic support craft.
The MK4 have been fitted out with a Gnome 15M 541 engine of 4.750hp and she can carry 60 troops in side compartments and assault vehicles on its 56 meter cargo deck.

The crafts were overhauled between 1984 and 1985 by the builder with new engines and skirts.

2008 Still in service.
