In 1998 Ireland issued four stamps which depict sailing ships, two were already before depict on stamps the ASGARD II and the USCG EAGLE.

Built as a two-masted steel hulled yacht by Groves & Gutteridge Ltd. Cowes for the Sea Cadet Corps of the United Kingdom.
21 October 1970 keel laid down.
12 July 1971 launched under the name T.S. ROYALIST, launching ceremony was performed by Princess Anne.
Tonnage 83 tons grt, 67 ton net, dim. 29.50 x 5.90 x 2.60m. (draught), length bpp. 17.80m.
Auxiliary engine, two Perkins diesels, total 460hp., speed under engine 8 knots.
Brig rigged, sail area 433 m².
The sails are made of terylene.
She is fitted out with all modern navigation equipment
Accommodation for 6 crew and 26 cadets.
Home port Portsmouth.

She was designed by Colin Mudie, and is used by the Sea Cadet Corps for mostly week long trips around the English coast. But also trips are made to the Channel Islands, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. Takes also part in Tall Ship Races in which she other parts of Europe visit. She is racing in the A Class.
When you see her she remembers on a sailing war vessel of a beyond area, with her painted ports
On her young people can gain practical insights into a career at sea, or learn to work as part of a team.

1992 She underwent a refit and a Mid-Life upgrade.

2008 Still in service.

November 2014 decommissioned in Portsmouth.
She is replaced by a new vessel bearing the same name.
Fate not sure, most probably heading for the breakers yard?
