Built as a trawler by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson, Newcastle. U.K. for the Egyptian Government (Coastguard and Fisheries Service), Alexandria, Egypt.
11 September 1930 launched under the name MABAHISS.
Tonnage 317 gross, 105 net, dim. 42.1 (bpp) x 7.2m.
One 3-cyl triple expansion steam engine, manufactured by shipbuilder, hp?
October 1930 completed.

She was used in the John Murray 1933/34 Expedition to the Indian Ocean.

http://www.equasis.org 2006: She is still in use under IMO No. 5216197, call sign SUAO. Listed as a research vessel. Owned by Egypt Government Ministry of War.

Engine power 98 nhp.
2018 Still listed on Equasis but her existing is doubtful.
