GALAPAGOS EXPLORER II

The passenger vessel on this miniature sheet by comparing the miniature sheet with photo’s of the ship must be the GALAPAGOS EXPLORER II.

Built as a cruise liner under yard No 45 by Cantier Nav. “Ferrari” S.p.A., La Spezia, Italy for Yacht Shipping S.a.r.L, Italy.
18 July 1988 launched under the name RENAISSANCE THREE, three sisters.
Tonnage 4.077 grt, 1.371 net, 433 dwt. Dim. 88.32 x 15.31 x 4.00m. (draught), length bpp. 74.66m.
Powered by two 12-cyl. Man-B&W diesel engines, 5.040 kW., twin pitch propellers, speed 15.5 knots.
Passenger accommodation for 100 passengers in one class.
01 July 1990 completed.

After delivery managed by Renaissance Cruises, Palermo, Italy.
1994 Transferred to Liberia register, with homeport Monrovia.
1997 Sold by Renaissance Cruises (Antigua) Inc., Liberia to Enchanted Island Corp., Liberia, renamed GALAPAGOS EXPLORER II.
Thereafter used for cruises around the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador.
Under Ecuadorian register, with homeport Guayaquil.

2007 as given by http://www.equasis.org Owned by Enchanted Islands, Bahamas, managed by Canodros, Guayaquil, Ecuador. IMO No. 8708660.

She is on a mint sheet of Ecuador 2002 2.00 USD

2014 Renamed by owners in SILVER GALAPAGOS.
21 October 2020 owner given as Silversea Cruises Ltd. Bahamas and renamed MANTRA
01 June 2021 owner gives as Mantra Sea Hermes, Bahamas.
