She was built as an Aframax crude oil tanker under the name IMABARI SAIJO 8010 in 2002, renamed in SEA NOSTRUM, later in SEANOSTRUM, and owned by Seanostrum Tanker, Vancouver, Canada. Managed by Valles Steamship, Vancouver, Canada. The Valles Group of Companies has been in the shipping business for nearly a century. Valles was formed as a family business in Shanghai, China prior to 1910 to provide service including passenger vessels, beyond the waters of China.
In 1949 the company’s operation was transferred to Hong Kong and the Vales Steamship Company Limited was incorporated. Further fleet expansion continued. In the second half of the 20th century many new vessels were constructed mostly by Japanese yards.

In 1995, Valles made another move, this time to Canada. Valles Steamship Canada Limited was formed in 1995, and the management of the Valles fleet was transferred to offices in Vancouver B.C. The company’s headquarters remain in Vancouver to this date. Valles is a privately owned company and is operated out of Canada by the Koo family under the management directorship of David Koo.
The SEANOSTRUM is chartered in 2004 by the Italian petroleum refining and marketing company AgipPetrili.
