On this set of stamps issued in 2006 by South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands are depict Albatross birds (Save the Albatross), so not so interesting for our collection, but the miniature sheet of £2 has two yachts on it in the margin of the sheet.

The miniature sheet is set into a scene showing Dame Ellen MacArthur and her yacht B&Q in Cobblers Bay with the GOLDEN FLEECE the yacht used for the ongoing ACAP Petrel Survey in Ocean Harbour beyond.

The catamaran was built by Boatspeed, Australia, north of Sydney for Ellen MacArthur record solo attempt to circumnavigation around the world.
May 2003 commenced building of the yacht.
08 January 2004 launched under the name B&Q CASTORAMA TRIMARAN, named after the sponsor of the project.
Displacement 8.3 tonnes. Dim. 22.86 x 16.28m.
Mast height 30.6. Sail area 253.2 meter.
The yacht is constructed of carbon.
Fuel capacity 270 litres and drinking water 30 litre( not much for 71 days)
The yacht was designed by Nigel Irens and Benoit Cabaret.
Building cost £1.3 million.

28 November 2004 she crossed the start line off Ushant at 08-10-44 GMT.
07 February 2005 passed the finish line off Ushant at 22-29-17 GMT.
Had circumnavigated the world in a record time of 71 days 14 hours 18 minutes and 33 seconds.

2007 The yacht is for sale asking price 1.500.000 Euro.

The other yacht depict is the GOLDEN FLEECE.
She was built on the yard of the Kanter Yacht Corporation, St Thomas, Ontario, Canada.
1985 Launched (if she is launched under the name GOLDEN FLEECE could not find out.)
Displacement 65 tons, dim. 19.5 x 6.19 x 2.48m. (draught), length of waterline 15.85m.
One Carterpillar diesel engine 235 hp. Bunker capacity 12.000 liters, drinking water 5.000 liters.
Schooner rigged.
Accommodation in four double passengers cabins.
Crew 3.

2007 She is now registered in the Falkland Islands and belongs to the Golden Fleece Expedition Cruises.
