CABO DE HORNOS ARA

Built as a general-purpose cargo- transport vessel under yard No 110 by Pricipe, Menghi and Penco, Buenos Aires for the Argentinean Navy.
05 Nov. 1978 launched under the name CABO DE HORNOS (B5) one of the Canal Beagle class.
Displacement 10.894 tons. 7.838 gross, 8.800 net. Dim. 119.9 x 17.5 x 7.49m.
Two Sulzer diesels engines each 6.400 shp., twin screws, speed 16 knots. Economical 12 knots.
Cargo capacity 5.800 tons. 140 TEU’s. Refrigerated chamber of 210 m³.
Loading gear one derrick and three Liebherr cranes of 5 and 12.5 ton.
Crew 40.
June 1979 commissioned.

She is used for resupply the remote bases of Argentine and also used for commercial service on the south coast of Argentine, transporting all sorts of material and foodstuff including livestock.
She is also used for peace missions; she carried the Argentinean troops used by the United Nations to Yugoslavia.
