Built as a container vessel under yard No K26 by Chantiers de L’Atlantique, St Nazaire for South African Marine Corporation Ltd. Cape Town, South Africa.
21 September 1977 keel laid down.
19 May 1978 launched under the name S.A. WINTERBERG. Three sisters, S.A. SEDERBERG, S.A. HELDERBERG and S.A. WATERBERG.
Tonnage 53.050 grt. 32.499 net, 50.819 dwt., dim. 258.50 x 32.31 x 13.15m.
Powered by two 8-cylinder 2 S.C.S.A. Sulzer 8RND90M type engines manufactured by Compagnie de Construcion Mec. Sulzer CCM, Mantes, France. 39.426 bhp. Two propellers, speed 21 knots.
Two thwartship thrust propellers in bow.
Accommodation for 10 passengers in 5 cabins.
Could carry 2.464 TEU’s (20ft containers).
23 November 1978 completed.

Used in the liner service from South Africa to North Europe.
1979 Owners restyled as South African Marine Corporation Ltd. (Safmarine).
29 December 1992 renamed by owners in TRANSVAAL for a charter to Deutsche-Afrika Linien (DAL).
09 November 1995 after return to owners again renamed in S.A. WINTERBERG.
1998 Sold to Safmarine Container Line (Pty) Ltd.
1999 Transferred or sold to Safmarine (Pty) Ltd.
June 2002 sold to Mc Eagle shipping and under Bahamas registry, not renamed.
December 2003 sold to Danaos Shipping Co. Ltd, under Belgium registry.
February 2008 renamed WILMINGTON under Panama flag, sailed for the breaker in Bangladesh, arriving at Chittagong 24 February 2008 for breaking up.

She is on South Africa 1996 70c sg 931.
