Of this type were 16 built, all by the Admiralty Shipyard in Leningrad (St Petersburg) for the Russian Government. She was built under yard No. 762.
13 December 1960 keel laid down.
28 April 1961 launched under the name LEDOKOL 1.
Tonnage 2.305 gross, 1.141 dwt., dim. 67.7 x 18.06 x 8.3m., draught 6.1m
Powered by three diesels driving three generators connected to electric motors, 5.400 hp. One bow and two stern screws.
Range 5.700 miles.
Crew up to 100.
30 December 1961 delivered.

The LEDOKOL 1was the first of this new type of coastal and harbor ice-breakers, the first 10 were original named LEDOKOL 1 – 10.
Around 1966 the LEDOKOL 1 was renamed in VASILIY PRONCHISHCHEV.
28 January 1989 she suffered a major engine room fire in waters near Archangel. At that time she was owned by the U.S.S.R. Northern Shipping Company.
10 June 1989 arrived under tow at Lisbon to be broken up.
