L'ESPERANCE

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No 22 by N.V. van der Kuy/v.d.Ree Machinefabriek & Scheepswerf, Rotterdam for M.J. van der Eb & H.H. Dresselhuijs Scheepvaart Maatschappij, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Launched under the name HARLINGEN, named after a port in the Province Friesland, Netherlands.
Tonnage 370 grt. Dim.40.3 (bpp) x 7.01 x 3.35m.
One triple expansion steam engine, manufactured by builder, 32 nhp., speed ?
September 1918 completed.

1920 Sold to Soc. Belge d’Armement Maritime, Antwerp, renamed ALBERTA.
1928 Sold to Péches Australes Soc. Anon., Diego-Suarez, renamed ESPÉRANCE. (The company had something to do with the Brothers Bossiére, the family was granted a concession by the French Government in 1893 to exploit the Kerguelen Islands)
1931 Sold to Cie Générale des Iles de Kerguelen, de St Paul et Amsterdam, Diego-Suarez
Between 1931 and 1936 reported that she was named ESPÉRANCE DE KERGUÉLEN, and later reported that she operated as a trawler.
1951 Deleted from Lloyds Register.
The stamp shows her abandoned and in a bad shape, the stamp gives her as L’ESPÉRANCE.
