Built in 1967 by John Penny & Sons Ltd. St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada for Ferguson Industries Ltd. Pictou, Nova Scotia. Canada.
She had a Gross tonnage of 287tons. 102 Nett. With a Length of 36.58metres a Beam of 7.60metres and a Draught of 3.201metres. Powered by a 4 SA 8 Cylinder (210 x 300) reverse reduction geared oil engine to a singlescrew. Stork-Werkspoor Diesel B.V. Ams¬terdam. 650bhp. Gen 2 x 50 kW 220V 60Hz a.c. Fuel 30.5 tons. Speed 10.5 knots.
PENNYFAIR was owned by Fishery Products International Ltd. Canada, she was owned by this firm at the time of her loss on September 12th when she grounded on Seal Rocks off the French island of Grande Miquelon. She was abandoned as a total loss. One person was killed.
