Komarno

Post by shipstamps » Thu Sep 11, 2008 2:57 pm

The passenger ship Komarno was built at the Gabor Steiner shipyard at the Slovak port of Komarno on the Danube. She is a triple-screw motorship of 1,480 tons displacement, fitted with a Voigt Schneider propeller forward for easier manoeuvring. She carries only 419 passengers, but has a crew of 70, including domestic staff, and is designed for long-distance river work. Space is provided for approximately 100 tons of cargo. Powered by three Skoda, type-6L275, oil engines developing an aggregate of 1,575 h.p., coupled by reduction gearing to the propellers, the Komarno has a cruising speed of about 15 knots.
