Britannia and QE2

Post by shipstamps » Fri Sep 05, 2008 12:03 pm

From Grenada come two stamps which honour a pioneering venture, the inauguration of the first transatlantic mail steamship service to the United States by the Cunard Line's Britannia, which is seen on the 15c. stamp in the bottom left corner; whilst the latest ship of the company is depicted on the 25c. stamp in the same position. It would appear, doubtless, "To finish off a decent job," as the old song says, that the stamp designer has given the Queen Elizabeth 2 a real Cunard red funnel. Many readers of Sea Breezes will certainly agree that it enhances the liner's appearance. SG409/10 SB4/71
