Post by shipstamps » Mon Aug 25, 2008 12:00 pm

In 1948 the St. Patrick came into service for the Fishguard and Rosslare Railways and Harbours Company (The Railway Executive, Western Region, managers). Built by Cammell Laird and Co., Ltd., Birkenhead, her dimensions are 306.5 x 48.2 x 17.2, with a gross tonnage of 3,482. She is now on the Channel Islands service and is depicted on the 1 s.6d. Alderney stamp. Driven by four steam turbines geared to twin-screw shafts, the St. Patrick has a speed of 22 knots. She replaced her namesake lost during the war.
