Depicted on the 41/2p. stamp is the Clovelly life-boat Charles H. Barrett, (Civil Service No. 35). Official number 987. The boat was provided by the Civil Service Life-Boat Fund. She is a steel-type (70-001), her length being 71ft. and beam 18ft. Fitted with twin 230 h.p. Gardner oil engines, her displacement is 79 tons. She was built in 1965 at an approximate cost of £57,000 and is fitted with radar.
