1863-1872. This schooner of 88 tons was constructed during 1848 at Portsmouth for Lord Dufferin. In 1863 she was bought by the Government of the Falkland Islands for use as a mail schooner between the islands and Montevideo. She operated thus until 1872 during which time she made 59 return voyages, all without mishap. Later the Foam was purchased by Andreas Pittaluga for purely inter-island use, which ceased in 1890 when she was wrecked on Carcass Island in extreme weather conditions. SG341B
