Mailboat built 1957 Goole SB & Rep. Co. for Falkland Is Trading Co Ltd., 1793Gt 739nt. L236’7” B41’3”. Renamed CHRISTOS K 1973 by Kassimaris, Greece. Sold 1973 to Buboea Ship Corp. Greece, kept name. Renamed HATIM 1978 and DANIA same year. Owned Abdul Salam Abdul Karim.  – Falk Is SG332a. 332A (LB 7/56. 12/10. SB 5/78)

Built under yard No 505 as passenger/cargo vessel by Goole Shipbuilding & Repairing Co., Humberside, Yorkshire, for the Darwin Shipping Co., (a subsidiary of the Falkland Island Co. Ltd.,) London.
Launched under the name "DARWIN".
Tonnage 1.793 grt, 739 net, 1.050 dwt, dim.236.7 x 41.3 x 17.6ft., draught 13.6ft.
Powered by one triple-expansion steam engine, 1.150 hp., manufactured by Charles D.Holmes & Co. Ltd., speed 12 ¼ knots.
Accommodation for 36 passengers in two and four-berth cabins.
Cargo could be carried in three holds, No 1 hold was arranged for the carriage of petrol in drums and there was a 50-ton gasoil tank fitted abaft No 2 hold.
Cargo capacity 40.000 cubic feet (400 BRT), and she had a large amount of storage space including 1.250 cubic feet (12,5 BRT) reefer space.
1957 Completed. Registered in the Falkland Islands, homeport Port Stanley.

She was designed and built for the monthly mail service between the Falklands and Montevideo, and replace the FITZROY
The population of the Falklands was largely dependent on the service of the "DARWIN" at that time.
03 August 1957 she arrived for the first time in Port Stanley, Falkland Islands.
During the southerly summer, she made also some voyages to South Georgia, Punta Arenas or Comodore Rivadavia.
By 1971 she had become uneconomical to run and placed on the sale list.
1973 Sold to M.Kassimeris, Greece, renamed in CHRISTO K. Used for service in the Mediterranean. Sailed in September from the Falkland Islands.
The same year sold to Euboea Shipping Co. S.A., Greece, not renamed.
1976 Sold to Gulf Shipping Nav. Inc., Panama, not renamed.
The same year again sold to M. Kassimeris, Greece, not renamed. (It looks that she always was managed an in that time by Kassimeris.)
1978 Sold top Al Shamsi Trading Co, United Arab Emirates, renamed in HATIM. (not HATIEN as given in the WP CD-ROM)
The same year sold to Abdul Salam Abdul Karim, Panama, renamed DANIA. (not DANAI as given in WP CD-ROM) (Marine News 1979/135)

21 March 1979 arrived under escort in Bermuda, Intercepted and confiscated by Customs agents, after finding her cargo of marijuana. The marijuana was put in the boilers of the vessel for destruction She was under arrest there since February 1980.
15 August 1983 scuttled off Bermuda. (Marine News 1983/623)
