GORGON (Not GORDON as on stamp - the only GORDON in the RN was Tender (ex War Dept miner of 125tn. transferred In 1907) Wooden Paddle. Frigate Ex 5th Rate. Built in 1837 at Pembroke Dock as a 6 gun Brig/Sloop. Her armament was Two 10" and Four 32pdr guns. Converted to a Paddle Steamer Frigate of 1119tn (date unknown) but before 1845 as she took part in the Battle of Obligado, Argentina, as a Paddle Steamer.
She served in anti slavery patrols off Africa. Supported Livingstones 2nd expedition.
She was broken up in 1864
