Post by shipstamps » Sun Jul 06, 2008 2:44 pm

6th Rate, 28 guns, 626 tons (builders' measurement). Length 125 ft., beam 34 ft., built at Hull in 1774, by Blaydes and Hodgson. She was commanded by Nelson in 1784. During this command, he some three years later married the young widow, Frances Nisbet, on the Island of Nevis. Nelson was sailing around the islands with Prince Henry, Duke of Clarence, later King William IV, on tour. The Prince was a witness to the ceremony. The frigate Boreas became a slop ship in 1797 and was sold in May 1802. SG246
