Virginia of Sagadahock

Post by shipstamps » Fri Jun 27, 2008 3:59 pm

The Virginia of Sagadahock was the first merchant ship built in America. She was built in 1607 at Stage Island, near the mouth of the Sagadahock River in Maine, by members of the Popham Colony, the first English settlement in New England.
Popham Colony is a later name for the settlement; it was originally Fort St George. USA SG 1097.
