D52.5 x 92.5 x 59.5 T 45,324Gt Triple screw, Triple-expansion and turbine engines, 21kts. Passengers; First, 735. Second, 675. Third, 1,030. Launched 20th October 1910, she made her Maiden Voyage on 14th June 1911 Southampton-New York. On 20th September 1911, she collided with the British cruiser Hawke in the Solent and holed; Olympic was held to blame. Repairs lasted six weeks. In 1912-1913 spent. In 1912-1913 spent six months at Belfast being rebuilt after loss of her sister ship Titanic; tonnage rose to 46,439.In October 1914 she attempted to tow the mined British super-dreadnought Audacious to port. In 1915 she became a trooper. Commissioned 4th April 1917 under White Ensign. On 12th May 1918 she rammed and sank German submarine U.103 near the Lizard. Refitted 1920 and converted to oil-burning. On 25th June 1920 resumed Southampton-New York run. Collided 22nd March 1924 with Furness-Bermuda liner Fort St. George when leaving New York; sternpost broken. Rammed and sank Nantucket lightship in thick fog on 16th May 1934; seven of lightships crew were lost. Taken over in 1934 by Cunard White Star. Her last voyage was on 27th March 1935. Sold September 1935 to Sir John Jervis for £100,000 and resold to Metal Industries on the understanding that she would be scrapped at Jarrow to relieve unemployment; arrived Jarrow 13th October 1935. Hulk towed to Inverkeithing 19th September 1937 for final demolition; arrived 20th September 1937. St Vincent SG1227. (Info Ship Stamp Society)
