Tintagel Castle (Union Castle)

Built by Harland & Wolff and launched on 5th June, 1954, Tintagel Castle was the final ship built for Union Castle before the formation of the British and Commonwealth group in January, 1956.
Her maiden voyage to South Africa was on 11th June, 1954.
In June 1971 she was sold to Armar Shpping Co., Cyprus and renamed ARMAR.
On 27th June 1978 she arrived at Kaohsiung for demolition.

Built: 1954 by Harland & Wolff, Belfast, #1500.
Tonnage: Gt:7447, Nt:4368, Loa:150,75m. Lpp:145,44m. Br:20,07m. draft:8,44m. 8 Cyl. Burmeister & Wain by Builder: 8500 BHP, 16 Kn.
Launched on the 4th February 1954, Completed 5th of June 1954, Yard No; 1, 500.

Same service as her sister Tantallon she was the last ship built for Union Castle before it became known as British and Commonwealth and she made her maiden voyage on the 11th of June. In 1971 she was sold to Armar Shipping Co of Cyprus and renamed ARMAR. She arrived at Kaohsiung on the 27th of June 1978 for breaking by Nang Eng Steel Enterprise Co, work commenced on the 2nd of August.
