TRENT. Paddle Steamer Built 1841. W. Pitcher, Northfleet for Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. Glasgow. 1856tn. L275'oa. B60'. Steam engine by Miller, Ravenhill & Co., London, 430h p. 8 1/2kn. One of of 14 named for British Rivers, known CLYDE because the first of the class was CLYDE.
1854 Apr. Crimean War transport. Carried the 23rd Regiment, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, 1,180 men to Europatoria.
1861 Nov 8th. Mr Slidell and Mr Mason, the Confederate States Commissioners to France were taken off Trent by the USS San Jacinto. This caused an international incident which almost caused Britain to declare war on the Northern States of America.
1865 Returned from West Indies. Laid up.
1867 Broken up at Woolwich.
