AL WASL

I agree with Mr Crichton that she is the AL WASL and not the AL WARD as given in Stanley Gibbons Collect ships on stamps, a photo depict in Marine News 1981/377 as STAR FIRTH compared with the stamp, she looks identical.

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No 36 by Orskovs Staalskibsvearft, Frederikshavn, Denmark for Danish account (need owner)
21 December 1965 launched under the name DELTA.
Tonnage 299 grt, 191 net, 555 dwt., need dimensions.
Need type of engine and power/speed.
March 1966 completed.

1976 Sold to P/R Star Tuey, Norway and renamed STAR FIRTH.
1981 Sold to Screech Shipping (Jersey) Ltd., renamed SARAH JAMES.
1984 Sold to Al Shafar Transport & Construction Co. Dubai, renamed AL WASL.
26 April 1984 on a voyage from Hariyah to Barbera in position 21 38 N 59 28E about 16 miles south of Al Ashkarah, Oman she went aground, later abandoned as a total loss.

Oman 1985 100B sg 299, scott?
