MSC SPLENDIDA cruise vessel

Built as a passenger's vessel under yard No B33 by STX France Cruise SA (former Aker yards), Saint-Nazaire, Cedex, France for Compania Naviera Serenata S.A., Panama.
01 June 2005 ordered.
20 July 2008 floated out as the MSC SPLENDIDA, the intention was to name her MSC SERENATA but this was changed in May 2007 in MSC SPLENDIDA.
Tonnage 135.000gross, 11.000 dwt., dim. 333.33 x 37.92 x 865m. (draught)
Powered diesel electric by two diesel engines, 54.892 hp (40.400kW), twin screws, speed 22 knots.
Accommodation for 3.900 passengers, crew 1.313.
02 July 2009 completed. The building cost USA$ 550 million.
IMO No. 9359806.

04 July 2009 delivered to owners, homeport Panama. Managed by MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. Swiss.
04 July sailed for her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean.
12 July 2009 at Barcelona was she christened by the film diva Sophia Loren.
15 July 2009 she visited for the first time Malta when this set of stamps issued by Malta was presented onboard to the Captain of the vessel.
