TECLA Tall Ship

Built as a steel herring logger by the shipyard of Albert de Jong, Vlaardingen, Netherlands for N. Parlevliet & Zn., Katwijk, Netherlands.
Launched as the GRAAF VAN LIMBURG STIRUM (KW 143)
Tonnage ?, dim. 38 x 6.55 x 2.70m. (draught), length bpp 28m.
1915 Completed. Homeport Katwijk.

She was used as a fishing vessel in the Northsea.
1925 out of service and laid up.
1935 Sold to A.J.Asmussen, Denmark, fitted out with an engine and renamed MARIA OLYMP.
She was then used as a coastal trader.
1960 Sold to Harry Toft, Aalborg, Denmark and renamed TEKLA.
1977 Sold to Paul Mork.
1979 Sold to Ad Habets and Jan de Graaf, Netherlands.
1986 Sold to owners in Zwartsluis, Netherlands and converted in a ship for charter voyages with passengers, renamed TECLA.
Gaffel ketch rigged, with accommodation of 20 passengers maximum.
Sail area 370 square meter.
Her first owners were Jaap Vreeken and Jenny Pierik after 17 years was she bought by the family Bouwman & Sluik, still the owners in 2009.
Homeport Enkhuizen, Netherlands.
She is now fitted out with a auxiliary 6-cyl Scania DSI/11 diesel engine, 237 hp.

Mostly used in European waters but in 2009 she is a participant in the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge Race.
