L'Etoile tall ship 1932

Built as a wooden two-mast topsail schooner by Chantiers Naval de Normandie, Fécamp, France for the Marie National École Navale, Lanveoc-Poulmic/Brest.
08 February 1932 launched as the L’ÉTOILE, (Star) one sister La BELLE POULE. She is the fifteenth ship in the French fleet that carried the name L’ÉTOILE.
Displacement 227 ton standard, 275 ton full load, dim. 37.50 x 7.20 x 3.60m. (draught), length bpp. 25.30m.
Powered by an auxiliary Deutz diesel engine 100hp, speed under engine 6 knots.
Crew 3 officers, 5 petty officers, 12 regular crew and 30 trainees.
1932 completed.

She is built after plans of fishing vessels from Paimpol, France which till 1935 were used in the fishing on the banks off Iceland.
During the Second World War she joined the Free French Forces in Portsmouth, and that is the reason she flying the French flag with the cross of Lorraine.
She undertook various voyages in the coastal waters of the U.K from 1940 till 1945.
After the war used for regular training voyages in the European waters and Mediterranean, and she takes also part regular in Tall ships races.
2009 Was a participant in the Tall Ship Atlantic Challenge 2009 race from Vigo to North America and back to Europe.
She is now fitted out with a Baudoun auxiliary diesel, 285hp, one shaft.
