WAWEL ferry 1965

Built as a ro-ro ferry under yard no 641 by the yard of Nobiskrug at Rendsburg, Germany for H.Meijer Lion Ferry A/B, Halmstad, Sweden.
16 Jan. 1965 launched under the name GUSTAV VASA.
Tonnage 3.801 gross, 1.482 net, 1.771 dwt., dim. 110.2 x 18.0 x 6.7m., draught 4.4m., length between pp 99.7m.
Powered by 2 MAN diesel engines, 8.000 bhp., twin screws, speed 20 knots.
One bow-thruster. Ice strengthened.
Passenger capacity 1.016 included 240 berths. Cargo capacity for 130 cars, and 30 trailers.
10 April 1965 delivered to owners.

After delivery was she chartered by SJ, Malmö for the service between Trelleborg and Travemünde.
Later that year the line was extended to Malmö.
Nov. 1971 Sold to the Polish Ocean Lines (P.O.L.) at Szczecin, chartered by Öresundsbolaget, Malmö used in the ferry service between Malmö and Travemünde.
May 1973 re-delivered to owners and renamed WAWEL, then put in the service between Ystad and Swinemünde.
1977 Transferred to Polska Zeluga Baltycka at Kolobrzeg, Polen.
Nov 1988 Sold to M.C.K. Marine Enterprise Inc., (Sea Venture Cruises) Nassau, Bahamas, renamed CALYPSO, for service between the Greece mainland and the islands.
1989 Chartered by Seven Islands S.A. Shipping and Tourism, for the service between Patras, Kefalonia, Paxi, Igoumenitsa, Korfu and Brindisi.
Dec. 1989, sold to Indian Sky Maritime Ltd., Valetta, Malta, renamed CEFALONIAN SKY.
Used in the service of the Lefkatides Lines, between Ancona, Korfu, Igoumenitsa, Paxos and Patras.
1992 Transferred to Amalinda Shipping Co. S.A., Panama renamed EUROPRINCES.
1993 Used in the service between Piraeus and Turkey.
1994 Laid-up at Falmouth, England under the name CEFALONIAN SKY.
The same year sold to Lucinda Maritime Co. Ltd., Malta, renamed LUCINDA. Used in the ferry service between Brindisi and Igoumenitsa.
1996 Renamed in CALYPSO II.
15 June 1996 Chartered by the Stern Lines, Greece, renamed AULONA, used in the service between Bari-Cesme.
Later the same year chartered by the Vefa Lines, used in the service from Italia via Greece to Turkey.
June 1996, again chartered by Stern Lines, and used in the service between Bari and Cesme.
Aug. 1997 used in the service between Patras and Durres.
Oct. 1997 laid-up in Greece.
The same year sold to New Fortune Shipping S.A., Panama.
1998 Used by the Endeavour Shipping Co (VEFA Line) in the service between Patras and Durres.
12 Nov. 1998 laid-up at Anfilochia.
2000 Sold to the White Cross Shipping Ltd., Panama, renamed EUROFAST, and registered for the White Cliff Shipping Ltd., Kingston, St. Vincent. Used in the service between Brindisi and Albania.
2000 Laid up at Durres, Albania.
Nov 2004 sold to Turkish shipbreakers, renamed SCUTARI IV.
01 December 2004 arrived at Aliga, Turkey for breaking up.
