VILLE DE REIMS or VILLE DE ROUEN

Which container vessel is depict on the stamp is not clear, but it is one of the sister container vessels VILLE DE REIMS or VILLE DE ROUEN.
Both were built in 1977 for the Mar. & Comm. Havraise Peninsulaire (Managed by Sociéte Française des Transports Maritimes, Marseille.), by the yard of Astilleros Espanoles S.A. at Seville.
VILLE DE REIMS under yard no 197 and VILLE DE ROUEN under yard no 196.
VILLE DE REIMS, tonnage 16.505 gross, 9.132 net, 24.300 dwt., both have the same dimensions 173.01 x 22.86 x 10.50/14.01m. (draught).
One 10 cyl. Pielstick diesel, 15.000 bhp., speed 17½ knots.
VILLE DE ROUEN her tonnage is given as 16.893 gross, 23.916 net.
Carry 670 TEU’s.

1983 Renamed ARTOIS and under Panama flag.
1988 Sold to Solar System S.A. Greece, renamed P.S.PALOIS.
1992 Sold to Antilles Cia. Arm. S.A. Greece, renamed PALLAS.
1993 Renamed in UNIVERSE GLORY.
1993 Sold to Vast Jolity Shipping Ltd. St. Vincent, renamed VAST JOLITY.
1984 Registered at Hong Kong.
1996 Sold to Avon Park Associates. Inc., Hong Kong, renamed NOBLE GLORY.
1998 Sold to Viscount Nav. Corp. Panama, renamed GLOBAL POWER.
2003 Sold to Kamdar & Associates, India for breaking, and beached Alang 30 Jan. 2003. (Marine News 2003/306)

VILLE DE ROUEN:
1978 Transferred to Soc. Française de Transport Maritime, France.
1984 Renamed in ARMAGNAC.
1986 Renamed in SAVANNE.
1987 Sold to Cie. Nouvelle de Nav., France, not renamed.
The same year transferred to Cie. Française de Transport Maritime Mauritius, France.
1988 Sold to Cie Nationale de Nav. (C.N.N.), Bahamas renamed ACRITAS.
1991 Chartered by Broken Hill Pty., Australia for a Trans Pacific cargo service between the east coast of Australia and the west coast of North America.
1996 Sold to Phaethon Ltd., Bahamas, renamed PHAETHON.
1999 Sold to Oman Trading. LLC., Belize, renamed SPIRIT OF 66-II.
Sold to Indian shipbreakers and arrived Alang 19 Feb. 2000.
