Built as a cargo vessel by A/S Frederikstad M/V, Frederikstad for Moltzau & Christensen, Oslo.
Launched under the name FOLDAL.
Tonnage 2.385 gross, 1.198 net, 3.550 dwt., dim. 351.0 x 50.7 x 18.9ft.
Powered by a 4-cyl diesel engine, manufactured by the shipsbuilder.
1948 Completed.

1950 Sold to Rederi A/B Svenska Lloyd, Gøteborg, Sweden renamed in MURCIA.
1963 Sold to Etele-Suomen Lavia O/Y, Helsingfors, Finland renamed ESPA.
1968 Sold to Ormos Maritime Co. Ltd., Famagusta, Cyprus, renamed in JANE.
1971 Sold to Dubai National Shipping Corp., Dubai, renamed TAYEB.

08 February 1972, on a voyage from Bombay to Mombasa, with a cargo of oilcake, she was at anchor in the outer harbour of Port Louis, when during cyclone ‘Dolly’ her anchors started to drag in 60 feet waves.
She grounded on a reef in position 20 08S and 57 28E. that day.
After she grounded the 30 men crew abandoned the TAYEB in liferafts and on lifebelts, during the attempt before reaching safety seven crewmembers drowned.
The TAYEB was seriously damaged and the flooded wreck was declared a constructive total loss.
