Cable Enterprise (cable ship 1964)

C.S. CABLE ENTERPRISE was built as yard number 1312 by Cammell Laird & Co. Ltd. at Birkenhead, and delivered in July 1964.
She is the second ship with this name and has a crew of 90.
She has 3 cable tanks with a total contents of 30,000 cubic feet.
She can stay at sea for 6 weeks and has a range of 6000 miles. She reaches a speed of 15 knots with her two screws. Her propulsion consists of 3 diesels of 4359 hp driving 2 generators and 2 electro motors of 1650 hp. She also has a bow thruster and a bow rudder.
Dim.: 113.19m x 14.99m x 5.80m (dr) x 9.00m (d). She is of 4358 gt, 1386 net and 2794 dwt.

Built as a cable ship under yard No 1312 by Cammell, Lard & Co., Birkenhead for the Cable & Wireless Ltd., London.
28 February 1964 launched as the CABLE ENTERPRISE. She was the second ship under that name for the company.
Tonnage 4,358 grt, 1,386 nrt, 2,794 dwt, dim. 113.19 x 14.99 x 5.80m. length bpp. 91.5m
Powered diesel electric by three 6-cyl. diesel engines manufactured by English Electric, 4,359 hp driving 2 generators and 2 electro motors of 1,650 hp, two shafts, speed 15 knots.
Fitted out with a bow rudder so that she can go astern without difficulty when on cable work. Also fitted out with a Voith-Schneider bow thrust unit.
Range 6,000 miles, and can stay at sea for six weeks.
Three cable tanks and she can cable carry contents of 30,000 cub. ft.
Crew 90.
July 1964 completed.

She was mostly used for cable maintenances in the waters of South East Asia and Indian Ocean, and was based in Manila, Philippines.

1994 Transferred to Cable & Wireless (Marine) Ltd., London.
1999 Sold to Global Marine Systems Ltd., London
2002 Sold to Pelican Marine Advance Distribution Co. Ltd., Panama and renamed in CABLE.
Most probably only carried that name for her delivery voyage to the breakers, she arrived 10 April 2002 by the breakers yard in Alang for scrapping.
