C.S. CABLE VENTURE was yard number 532 and was built by Lubecker Flender-Werke AG at Lubeck-Siems in 1962 for the West German Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke which put her into use at NEPTUN. She was the third ship with this name for this company.
In December 1975 she was purchased by Cable & Wireless and renamed in her present name on 18th April 1977. In the meantime she was totally rebuilt by Humber Graving Dock & Engineering Company at Immingham.
In August 1977 she was commissioned again. Now she has 4 cable tanks for 2400 nautical miles seacable of 1". Further on she has been provided with 4 MAN diesels of 5960 hp, which drive 2 generators connected to 4 electro motors and 2 screws. She also has 2 bow thrusters. Her crew consists of 118 men and 20 cable technicians.
Dim.: 151.95m x 18.80m x 8.97m (dr) x 12.60m (d). Tonn.: 9019 gt, 3431 net and 10,635 dwt.
Her speed is 12.5 knots.

Built as a cable layer under yard No 532 by the Lubecker Flenderwerke AG, Lubeck-Siems, Germany for the Union Kabellegungs & Schiffahrts Gesellschafft, Nordenham, Germany.
15 September 1961 launched as the NEPTUN. The third ship under that name for the company.
Tonnage 8,909 grt, 3,504 net, 11,863 dwt., dim. 151.95 x 18.80, 12.60m., draught 8.97m., length bpp. 134.6m.
Powered: diesel electric by four 12-cyl. MAN diesels 5960 hp, connected to 4 electro motors, which drive two shafts, speed 14 knots. Two bow-thrusters.
Six holds, five used for storing cables the other for buoys, grapnels etc. Capacity for storing of 2400 mile cable with a thickness of 1 inch.
Crew 118 and 20 cable technicians.
Three bow sheaves and one stern sheave.
1962 Delivered to owners.

She was managed by the Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke as a cable layer.
1965 Chartered to United States Underseas Cable Corp., Liberia.
1971 Chartered to International Marine Operations Inc., Liberia

1993 Sea-me-we 2 cable, segments 2.4 and 2.5 from Djibouti to India.
1997 Gemini south system cable from U.S.A to the U.K.
1998 Sold to unspecified owners in St Vincent, renamed ABLE VENTURE.
The same year sold to the Shree Ram Group of Industries, Alang, India for recycling and she arrived there on 14th May 1998.
