How to get an evaluation of a ship stamp collection

Post by Scott.howard » Mon Jun 29, 2015 10:21 am

I have possession of my late Fathers ship stamp collection and, not being a collector myself, would like to know the most efficient and effective means of obtaining approximate valuations of his collection. As a former member of the British Merchant Navy and a life long collector of maritime stamps, there may me some items of interest to members of this forum. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
The Ship Stamp Society has people who would be interested in purchasing a collection or they also have a "packet" system of selling stamps amongst the members.
The catalogue value of stamps gives you an idea of the value if you divide by three. That's as much as you might expect to receive. You will get a lot less if selling through an auction house.
