Powered by two 1,100 hp MAN/Kolomna diesels, two 525 hp electric motors and 2 50 hp creeping electro motors. Twin shafts, speed surfaced 14 knots, submerged 9 knots.
Range surfaced by a speed of 14 knots, 3,600 mile, submerged by a speed of 2 knots, 132 mile.
Armament: 1 – 100mm, 1 – 45mm AA, 1 – 7.62mm MG. Torpedo tubes 6 – 21 inch bow and 2 – 21 inch stern.
Diving depth 100 metres.
Crew 53.
18 November 1930 commissioned.
This class was the first submarines designed and built under the Soviet regime, the class was designed by B.M. Malinin.
The class was double hulled with 7 compartments and was riveted constructed.
She was later designated with the No D-1.
First a unit of the Baltic Fleet in May 1933 was she shifted to the Northern Fleet via the White Sea-Baltic canal.
05 August 1933 a unit of the Northern Fleet.
Between 1936 and 1937 modernized.
During the Finnish-Soviet war she made three patrols all three were unsuccessful
13 November 1940 during a diving incident she foundered in Molotovskiy Bay in position about 69 30N 33 00E with the loss of the complete crew of 53 men. Reason till so far not known.
