Built as a self-propelled drilling ship under yard No b149 by the Far East-Livingston yard in Singapore for the Diamond M Co., Panama.
29 June 1976 launched as the DIAMOND M DRAGON.
Tonnage 5,548 grt, 3,864 net, 8,789 dwt. Dim. 110.34 x 21.34 x 7.32m., draught 5.34m. Length bpp. 107.7m.
Powered by 5 GM diesels of 7,500 bhp driving 5-1,000 kw (600 v.a.c) generators and four electric motors geared to 2 shafts, speed 9 knots.
Crew 110.
Four mooring on her drilling side she has 8-30,000 lb. anchors, each with 4,000 ft of 2 “ wire for water up to 1,000 ft.
Drilling depth 20,000 ft.
Two 60 tons and one 45 ton crane.
Carried 9,000 bbls of fuel and 14,600 bbls of liquid mud, 5,775 cubic feet of bulk mud and 5,775 cubic feet of cement.
She was fitted out with racks for pipe and casing.
Her electronic equipment includes underwater television.

Between 1978 and 1979 was she drilling off the Alaskan shore and off the Seychelles. She spent some 14 months under contract of a local petroleum company in Seychelles exploring for oil and gas in Seychelles waters.
1981 Sold to Iro Frigg Ltd., Panama and renamed IRO FRIGG.
May 1986 laid up at Algeciras, Spain.
1987 Sold by Iro Frigg Ltd. and Atlantic Drilling Corporation both Panama to Salvamentos y Desguaces S.A. who began scrapping work at Puerto de Santa Maria near Cadiz in August 1987.
