CAPITAN PRAT (FFG 11)

CAPITAN PRAT (FFG 11) was laid down as HNLMS WITTE DE WITH (F813) on 15 December 1981 and
launched on 25 August 1984. Commissioned into the Dutch Navy on 17 September
1986. She was named after the Dutch Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet Witte de With (1599-1658).

During 1988 was she the flagship of a Dutch squadron Fairwind 88 which made a goodwill voyage to India, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.
During the second part of 1989 was she one of the ships in the standing NAVO squadron STANAVFORLANT.
Shortly after the Iraqi attack on Kuwait together with Hr MS PIETER FLORES was she ordered to proceed to the Gulf region where she took part in Operation Phalanx.

26 May 2005 decommissioned.

Sold to Chile in 2005 as the CAPITAN PRAT (named after Arturo Prat)

On 14 July 2006 CAPITAN PRAT was at Den Helder during the Dutch Navy Open Days
but was at a berth that was not open to the public.
17 July 2006 handed over to Chile.
