Kamakura Maru, container ship, owned by Nippon Yusen Kaisha, of Tokyo. Built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., at Kobe, in 1971. Gross tonnage 51,139; net 30,993; disp. 35,405 tons, Length 261.02m, breadth 32.26 m. draft 11.989m. Steam turbines, double reduction geared, developing 80,000 s.h.p. Speed 26,25 knots.

Built as a container vessel under yard No 1023 by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Kobe, for Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Tokyo.
31 March 1971 launched as the KAMAKURA MARU.
Tonnage 51,139 grt, 30,993 net, 35,405 dwt. Dim. 261.00 x 32.20 x 24.00m.
Powered by two steam turbines, 80,000 shp, twin shafts, trial speed 26 knots, service speed 24 knots.
Capacity for 1652 TEU’s, 358 FEU’s, and 184 reefer TEU’s
December 1971 delivered.

1982 Re-engined by two 8-cyl. diesel engines, manufactured by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, Tamano, 26.800 hp.

1988 Sold to NYK Marinera Shipping S.A., Panama and renamed OCEANUS OSAKA.
1995 Renamed in MSC CLAUDIA.
2008 Sold to Indian shipbreakers and beached at Alang on 28 December 2008.
