COSCO ASIA container vessel

China Post issued two stamps of $1.20 in 2011 to commemorate China’s ocean shipping industry. The stamp depicting the COSCO ASIA with in the background of the stamp the port of Shanghai you can see.

Built as a post-Panamax-sized container ship under yard No 1801 by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Ulsan, South Korea for Cosco Asia Maritime Inc., China.
26 July 2007 christened by Mrs. Wang Wenying wife of Mr. Zhang Fusheng in COSCO ASIA, five sisters,
COSCO EUROPE, COSCO AFRICA, COSCO AMERICA, COSCO OCEANIA and COSCO PACIFIC.
Tonnage 11,4394 grt, 10,9968 dwt, dim. 349.1 x 45.7 m. Length bpp. 334.0m
Powered by a diesel engine, 93,360 bhp, speed maximum 26 knots, service speed 18 knots.
Container capacity 10,046 TEU’s including 800 reefer containers.
06 August 2007 delivered to owners, managed by Cosco Maritime. Under Panama flag and registry.

Built for the China to Europe service.
2009 Chartered by Hanjin Shipping Co. Ltd., Seoul, South Korea and renamed HANJIN FUZHOU.
Used in the service between the Far East and west coast of the USA.
01 May 2011 returned to owners and renamed again in COSCO ASIA.
